Thirty~Cold weather layers

I’ve once again rounded up my seasonal  work favorites, and threw in a casual outfit as well.  One of these outfits is actually my “Monday Outfit” that I have worn about four Mondays in a row! Our office is super cold, and usually it’s warmer at the end of the day, so I have learned to layer my outfits to adapt to where I am at the time so I’m not a sweaty mess but still look presentable, regardless of which layer I have showing!DSC_0248Bell Sleeve Sweater- Macys|Trousers- JC Penney|

Twenty ~ Classic Holiday Style with an Edgy Twist!

If you’re looking for a classy holiday dress, this beautiful lace cut out from Crosby by Mollie Burch is absolutely perfect for all of your holiday events! I’ve also included a very similar dress from ASTR that is less expensive! (click the link below) You’ll stand out in a crowd with this gorgeous lace detailing and the super flirty short dress underneath with lace overlay! I kicked this look up a notch by adding a fun, but slightly edgy pair of earrings by Mignonne Gavigan and adding my favorite pair of heels ever! The Dameera pump by Jessica Simpson. I also added a subtle necklace by Kendra Scott and finished off the look with simple gold, beaded bracelets from Loft. This look will have you looking and feeling stunning! Thirty ~ Fun Holiday Style

This duo is the ultimate Christmas Party outfit.  It pairs a classic little black dress with a super warm zip-up vest.   This Kate Spade long sleeved dress is the perfect blend of classic and flirty, it’s structured and flowy in the right places and it’s not too short. This wool Crosby by Mollie Burch vest can be worn as a vest or a dress by itself but, unfortunately, at the time of this post, the vest is sold out online, and there were about 2 left in the Monkees store near us. These earrings are by Baublebar, and a bit pricey, but Target has replicas.  I hope this helps you find a cute outfit for your parties this season so you have one less thing to stress about and enjoy the holidays! This whole look can be found at your local Monkees boutique!

Forty ~ Fun Holiday Dress

We had so much fun last week, during our holiday photo shoot, albeit we had to fight through the wind chill and approaching snow storm, but that didn’t damper our day! We teamed up with one of our local boutiques, Monkees, to showcase a few of their gorgeous dresses! If you live near the Fredericksburg area, and haven’t visited this cute little store, then you need to change your plans for the rest of the day and go! They have so many beautiful brand name clothes, shoes, purses and accessories! The owner Catherine, and her staff, are so nice and friendly and can help put an outfit together for you in seconds! I chose this fun and flirty Kate Spade dress to wear. It’s perfect for a Christmas, or New Year’s Eve party, without going too over the top! I love the gorgeous deep maroon color and it’s pretty details. From the ruffles on the hem line, arm line and high neck line, to the classic waist, this dress does not disappoint! Plus, it has deep pockets (I mean… who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?) I dressed it up with a pair of lace pumps, a black shawl (just enough material to cover shoulders!) and beautiful earrings and cuff bracelet! This dress is simple, classic and feminine and can definitely be worn for many different occasions, which is why I love it! By the way, if you love this dress as much as I do, it’s on sale in the Monkees boutique right now!! Whoop-whoop! You can also find the clutch, as well as the earrings and bracelet that I’m wearing in  the store too! Happy Holidays!

Forty ~ Simple Holiday Decor

We were late in the game when it came to decorating for the holidays this year! I meant to do it right after Thanksgiving, but as usual life got in the way! I decided to go simple this time around and used mainly red, gold and green for our decor palette. The majority of what you see here was bought at our local Michaels store, with 25% off my whole purchase (I do love a bargain!) I may, or may not, have made multiple trips to use that coupon! Haha! I am not one for having too many ornaments on our 7ft tree and a few of them the kids made in school, and some have been given to us as gifts. Every year the kids help put the ornaments on the tree, and this year was no different. They both have their own way  of decorating the tree – usually there will be ornaments at 3ft and below (courtesy of my 10 year old and the rest are 5ft and above (from my 16 year old) Apparently, the tree isn’t complete without candy, they finish the tree off by adorning it with their candy canes!  For the mantle, I continued with the color theme and went with a couple of staggered candle holders, a nutcracker and a cute “Merry and Bright” sign. I finished it off with a cute star star-shaped “Believe” sign and a “Noel” in the center of the mantle. The kid’s have had their stockings for years, but mine and my husband’s were changed out this year to match the plaid tree skirt! They are simply hung on, believe it, or not, command hooks! Yep! As for the fireplace, I decided to keep it cozy with a couple of lanterns, a “Peace” angel, and a holiday basket filled with a lighted garland, an assortment of pine cones and decorative berries (put together by yours truly!) There you have it – that’s basically it! Very simple and easy to put together, and that’s just the way we like it!

Thirty~A Classic Christmas Home

I love Christmas, ask my family, it’s my most favorite time of the year.  Waiting to decorate each year was torture.  This year was no different, so as soon as I woke up Black Friday, we pulled out all of our Christmas decorations and started.  For the main tree in our great room, we used red, gold, bronze, and brown bulbs, in matte, shiny, and glitter and all sizes.  Target and At home had the best deals when we were out and about stocking up on them, and we got out 9 foot tree from At Home as well, and this was the easiest thing to set up.  No more searching for plug ends, all we did was connect the poles! The deer bust stocking holders were 10 dollars from Home Goods, and the plain ones were 2/10 at Target, all the stockings were from Target as well. If you have never thought of brown on your tree, give it a shot! It warms up your room and you will not regret it! We have a little truck I will have to update this post with pictures of that was from Home Goods as well, and it had pumpkins for fall, so we unbolted them and added our own tiny tree, now all we need is a “Columbia Inn in Pine Tree” sticker for the door!DSC_0430
