Forty ~ Simple Holiday Decor

We were late in the game when it came to decorating for the holidays this year! I meant to do it right after Thanksgiving, but as usual life got in the way! I decided to go simple this time around and used mainly red, gold and green for our decor palette. The majority of what you see here was bought at our local Michaels store, with 25% off my whole purchase (I do love a bargain!) I may, or may not, have made multiple trips to use that coupon! Haha! I am not one for having too many ornaments on our 7ft tree and a few of them the kids made in school, and some have been given to us as gifts. Every year the kids help put the ornaments on the tree, and this year was no different. They both have their own way  of decorating the tree – usually there will be ornaments at 3ft and below (courtesy of my 10 year old and the rest are 5ft and above (from my 16 year old) Apparently, the tree isn’t complete without candy, they finish the tree off by adorning it with their candy canes!  For the mantle, I continued with the color theme and went with a couple of staggered candle holders, a nutcracker and a cute “Merry and Bright” sign. I finished it off with a cute star star-shaped “Believe” sign and a “Noel” in the center of the mantle. The kid’s have had their stockings for years, but mine and my husband’s were changed out this year to match the plaid tree skirt! They are simply hung on, believe it, or not, command hooks! Yep! As for the fireplace, I decided to keep it cozy with a couple of lanterns, a “Peace” angel, and a holiday basket filled with a lighted garland, an assortment of pine cones and decorative berries (put together by yours truly!) There you have it – that’s basically it! Very simple and easy to put together, and that’s just the way we like it!

Thirty~A Classic Christmas Home

I love Christmas, ask my family, it’s my most favorite time of the year.  Waiting to decorate each year was torture.  This year was no different, so as soon as I woke up Black Friday, we pulled out all of our Christmas decorations and started.  For the main tree in our great room, we used red, gold, bronze, and brown bulbs, in matte, shiny, and glitter and all sizes.  Target and At home had the best deals when we were out and about stocking up on them, and we got out 9 foot tree from At Home as well, and this was the easiest thing to set up.  No more searching for plug ends, all we did was connect the poles! The deer bust stocking holders were 10 dollars from Home Goods, and the plain ones were 2/10 at Target, all the stockings were from Target as well. If you have never thought of brown on your tree, give it a shot! It warms up your room and you will not regret it! We have a little truck I will have to update this post with pictures of that was from Home Goods as well, and it had pumpkins for fall, so we unbolted them and added our own tiny tree, now all we need is a “Columbia Inn in Pine Tree” sticker for the door!DSC_0430

Twenty~ A Rustic Holiday

I seriously can not explain how exciting and fun it was to decorate this mantle! We just moved into our new home and the first thing I did was go out and get the decor for this mantle and the tree! I was just too excited for the Holidays and I had to get started on my vision. I drew some inspiration from Pinterest of course with a Red, Gold, Silver, and White theme and from there the rest just fell into place! I am IN LOVE with this real garland that I got for $6.00 from Lowes on Black Friday! It lays so beautifully and it comes in a 20ft bundle and I only used about 7 feet, so I have so much of it left over for more decorations! I’m also a little obsessed with the deer theme this season, and these cuties are from Target, along with the cable knit stockings and tree skirt! I feel like the candles play up the rustic vibe, along with these gorgeous lanterns, all from At Home! If you haven’t been to At Home before, it’s time to go! Anything you could ever need ever is there. Lastly, I picked up this wicker basket from Michaels for 50% off and it ties in perfect with the lanterns! I use the basket for my blankets, and if you’re ever wanting a warm cozy faux fur blanket, check out the Pottery Barn collection!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday season! Check back here for more home decor inspiration throughout the season!
